Sunset Ecological Solutions is seeking an on-call wildlife biologist to join our small and dedicated Biological Resources and Impacts Assessment team in Northern California. This person will provide biological services on various projects across California, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Marin County, Napa, Contra Costa, Solano, Sonoma, Santa Clara, and San Mateo Counties. The role involves working remotely in the field and from a home office for reporting tasks. The ideal candidate will have a BS or MS degree in biological sciences or related fields, with coursework in botany, ecology, marine biology, fisheries, and wildlife ecology. We welcome candidates at all levels, from entry-level to senior biologist. We are looking for an eager, dedicated, and hardworking individual interested in joining our close-knit, dynamic team. This position offers flexibility, with options to remain on-call or grow into a full-time role. The position may support various projects and clients in northern California, focusing on field assessments and surveys, construction monitoring, and technical writing. Field-related tasks include aquatic resource delineation (wetland delineations), habitat assessments, special-status species surveys (including nesting bird and raptor surveys, marine mammals, amphibian and reptile surveys, plant surveys, etc.), impact analyses, and construction compliance monitoring. Coordination with clients, engineers, and contractors is also required. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a good driving record are necessary. Experience with or possession of a current USFWS 10(a)(1)(A) special-status species permit is preferred. Target species include nesting birds, California red-legged frog, California tiger salamander, San Francisco garter snake, western pond turtle, giant garter snake, and California fishes. #J-18808-Ljbffr ZipRecruiter
