Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Senior Paper Engineer to join our Manufacturing Center of Excellence team, part of the corporate central capability group. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise to paper-making assets across North America facilities, working with both hourly and salaried employees. Our Team : This role involves diagnosing operational issues, leading resolution efforts, identifying improvements, developing others' expertise, and staying informed about emerging technologies. Regular domestic travel is required; relocation is not. What You Will Do : Partner with production personnel to identify process, people, and equipment improvements. Lead efforts to optimize asset performance with support from third-party and internal resources. Support installation, commissioning, and optimization of new or upgraded assets. Assist asset owners in managing improvement opportunities based on business needs. Develop standardized operating and maintenance strategies in collaboration with subject matter experts and capability teams. Mentor engineering and operations personnel at local facilities and within the corporate team. Plan outage activities with operations teams to ensure goals are met. Support short-term technical requests across multiple facilities. Assist in trials of new process technologies and assess their applicability. Apply PBM principles and champion safety leadership at all organization levels. Basic Qualifications : Knowledge of paper-making equipment and processes, such as finishing end equipment, winders, reels, and roll handling. Ability to interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s), layout, and mechanical drawings. Effective leadership, communication, and mentoring skills in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%. Comfort working in operating environments with platforms, elevated temperatures, and variable humidity. Availability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed. Preferred Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Pulp, and Paper Science, or a Technical degree. Experience with paper machine applications. At least 10 years in manufacturing leadership supporting paper-making operations. Experience with PI ProcessBook or similar data historians. 5+ years in production or optimization roles with proven results. Experience with Root Cause Analysis strategies. Technical design or service experience related to paper making. Salary range for this role is estimated to be $120K - $180K, depending on experience and location. #J-18808-Ljbffr Georgia Pacific
