Apply today and learn how MedStar Health can be your next great career move! Primary Duties: ~ Communicates with hospital staff regarding the ministry in the hospital. Collaborates with members of the hospital care team in identifying and resolving problems. With other Chaplains, acts as a liaison between patients, family, and hospital staff during periods of crisis, for example, difficult surgery outcomes or patients in process of dying. ~ Ensures that pertinent information regarding faith, denomination, parish/congregation, and date of anointing are properly entered into the computer. Ensures that documentation is performed according to the policy and procedure of the individual hospital. ~ Evaluates patient needs for spiritual guidance and counseling and initiates or recommends individual programs and services to meet those needs. Cooperates with healthcare team in assisting patients to make personal adjustments. Follows departmental schedule, providing coverage for patient care as needed. ~ Prepares and communicates any necessary reports to the Director/Manager. Provides for specific needs of individual faiths by fostering an ecumenical approach to hospital ministry. Responsible for carrying out assignments of the Director. Qualifications: ~ Associate's degree or equivalent educational background in theology, pastoral counseling, or religious studies. ~ Parish ministry or other pastoral ministry experience, preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting. ~ If a priest, minister, or nun, must be ordained by recognized religious body and endorsed by the proper ecclesiastical authority. ~ If a layperson, must be endorsed by the proper ecclesiastical authority. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Minimum Qualifications This position has a hiring range of $48,235 - $84,468 MedStar Health
